Hiking
There are many hikes you can take directly from the club, long and short, flat and steep.
Click Here to download a hiking guide (which will
also be available when you check in). You could plan
for a short hike or a day-long hike. If leaving from
the Lower Lake, you may drive up the Lake Road
(3.4 mi) and park, or take the bus, which will be
running Saturday morning only.

Fly Fishing

You need a N.Y. State Fishing License to fish in the AMR. To receive a license on arriving to Keene Valley, send a copy of your drivers license and $19 by August 20 to The Ausable Club, 137 Ausable Road, St. Huberts, New York, 12943.

For flies and guides, visit the Mountaineer, a store in Keene Valley. (See below). From the Ausable Club, you can fish the several miles of Ausable River that run from the Lower Lake down to the Club. Or, rent a canoe or guideboat (see below) and fish the lake. All fishing is catch and release.

The Lower Lake

The Lower Lake is 3.4 miles up the Lake Road, through the AMR gate. A bus will run as a shuttle between the club building and the boathouse on Saturday morning. You may also drive your car up to the Lake. Many hiking trails originate there. You may also use the boathouse’s canoes and guide-boats to paddle up the lake and in and around its coves. There are docks and changing rooms at the lake for swimming (brisk but refreshing).
