Getting There

By car

From points south and east: take the New York Thruway (route 87) at Albany, NY, drive north one hour and forty-five minutes (watch for speed traps). Take exit 30, “Keene Valley”.
Go left at bottom of ramp, on route 9 North for 2.1 miles. At fork, go left (basically straight), onto route 73 towards Keene/Keene Valley for 5.4 miles. At base of long, winding hill, turn left on Ausable Club Road. Drive up hill, which curves to the left. Ausable Club building is on the right. When you arrive, park in the circle and ask the front desk to point you in the direction of your accommodations. If arriving Friday night between 6 and 11, please take a right at teh fork at the top of the hill and park behind the building.
The trip is roughly 4 hours from Manhattan; 5 hours from New Jersey; and 5 hours from Boston. Get directions by searching for “137 Ausable Club Rd” in Keene Valley, NY, or St. Hubert’s, NY, in yahoo maps.
Stock up on gas just after Albany; there are limited highway services closer to exit 30. Cell phone service also gets spotty just after you pass Lake George.

By ferry

If you are driving from Vermont or New Hampshire, take the Charlotte-Essex ferry across Lake Champlain - the scenic route. Consult a ferry schedule for details.
After getting off the ferry in Essex, New York, turn left on Station road (route 22) and continue on route 22 for 8 miles. Take a right on Elizabethtown/Wadhams Road and then a left on Youngs Road and a right on 9N. Take 87 south to exit 30 towards Keene/Keene Valley. Exit to the right and get on 9 North to Keene/Keene Valley for 2.1 miles. At fork go left (i.e., continue straight) on Route 73 for 5.4 miles. At base of long, winding hill, turn left onto Ausable Club Road. Drive up hill, which curves to left, and the Ausable Club building is on the right.

By plane

The closest airport is the Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK), in Saranac Lake, NY, but you can only get there from Boston on Continental. Saranac Lake is 45 minutes from the Ausable Club.
The Albany Airport, 1 hour and 45 minutes from Keene Valley, and Burlington, Vermont Airport (BTV), 2 hours from Keene Valley, are both well serviced by major airlines, including United, U.S. Airways, American, Delta, Jetblue, Southwest, and Continental.
The Montreal International Airport (YUL) is 2 hours from the Ausable Club, in addition to however long it takes to pass through border customs.

By train

Amtrak has a daily train service from New York City’s Penn Station (NYP) to Albany, New York, about 2 hours from Keene Valley, and Westport, New York (WSP), which is roughly 30 minutes from Keene Valley. Trains to Albany are frequent; from there, you could arrange a pick up through the Ausable Club (see below). There is one train a day to Westport, leaving New York at 8:15 am and returning Sunday at 1:30 pm (the trip is about 5 hours). Call 800.872.7245 or visit www.amtrak.com for more information and schedules. You can then arrange transportation from Westport to the Ausable Club with the Club directly, but book early.

By bus

A bus will meet red eye flights arriving from the west coast at Newark early Friday morning. Those traveling from Manhattan who also wish to take the bus may meet the bus at Newark Airport. The bus will return to Newark Sunday afternoon for the evening flight west. Please email Leita Hamill at lhamill@lawrenceville.org by July 1st if you’d like to make a reservation for the bus. Please include your flight information and cell phone number. (Update: because we only received emails from two interested parties, we have decided not to rent a bus. Please contact us if you’d like us to help you arrange alternate transportation.)
Adirondack Trailways also runs from Albany (where you can connect from points east, including Boston) and Manhattan. The bus will drop you off at the Noonmark Diner, where you can call the Ausable Club (see below) to pick you up.

By taxi

The Ausable Club will arrange for transportation to and from the Adirondack Regional Airport in Saranac Lake, NY, and the Albany Airport, as well as to and from the Westport train station. Call 518.576.4411 to make reservations. Be sure to book early.
